Comnbofix worked for me. I am not using a router - I am plugged directly into the cable modem. I apologize for looking like an idiot. It would had saved a lot of time.The steps helped to get rid of audio and redirect problems.

That was odd, since normally this file is just called "HOSTS". Thanks so much. Thanks soooooo much for posting the fix on this nightmare problem. Combofix is also a great tool (but takes a bit of faith and patience).
